RE: Paul Brookins, Succeeding Reunion Planner/Coordinator
Hi Everyone...
It gives me pleasure to introduce and welcome Paul Brookins.
Paul has accepted taking the baton as the 62nd MRU/DPU Reunion Planner.
I've enjoyed coming to know Paul through our website guestbook followed
by emails and phone calls between each other.
Paul lives in Tampa, FL, the land of oranges/grapefruits, billowy white clouds, golden sunrises/sunsets, Mickey & Donald and unpopular hurricanes. Following his Army service, Paul spent 35 years in the IT Field. He is now retired. Paul has a daughter and son. As a proud grandfather, he has a beautiful granddaughter!
Paul served with 62nd DPU from August 1967 to October 1968. Following is a brief bio prepared by Paul on his 62nd Nation Experience:
Rank: SP5
My job was to do whatever SSG Davidson told me to do,
Including Guidon Bearer duty
MOS: Senior Statistical Analyst
I worked on TO&E's and TDA's with 1081 punch cards
Off-Duty
Activities: Usher at the Post Chapel, Night School Student at
American University and Tennis
Other: I was once Soldier of the Month...
By Default. I was the only candidate to show up
As you can see, Paul has a creative sense of humor, one of the side benefits
of having served with the 62nd! Paul's e-mail address is Paul.Brookins@yahoo.com
His telephone number is (813) 766-3063.
His son recently traveled to Coronado, Panama. Paul also has made some trips
to Panama and the former Canal Zone. He's seen the changes made in Panama
and at the former Ft. Amador landscape.
Paul will be in touch with us in the near future about a reunion event.
It's been an enjoyable experience having served as the Reunion Planner for and
alongside a real special group of outstanding individuals. Grateful to all who assisted on
the reunion committees and in other various ways to make our reunions warmhearted
and cherished get togethers in 2000 (our first) in Columbia, SC (Ft. Jackson), 2002 in
Branson, MO (L. Welk Resort), 2004 in San Antonio, TX (Ft. Brooks) and
2006 in Columbia, SC (Ft. Jackson). We wish to express a special thanks to
Loren Brown for his assistance in serving as the Dinner Coordinator.
So, our "Ocean to Ocean" Reunion Baton is being handed off to Paul with all the
best wishes and Godspeed. We look forward to hearing from Paul and assisting him.
Thanks again, Paul, for carrying on the torch! However, there is one important policy
to maintain, "No Mango Details!"
God bless!
Sincerely,
Don and Jean Liebner
